HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - There's a late addition to the list of postelection recounts still pending in Connecticut, and a possible legal challenge in another legislative race.
A spokesman for Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said Wednesday the office was notified late Tuesday by local registrars that the margin of victory in the 64th Assembly District is narrow enough to require a recount.
That district includes Canaan, Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon and Torrington.
Wednesday is the deadline to conduct a recount, but local election officials have until Friday to finish it.
Meanwhile, Republicans are considering challenging Democratic House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz's (ehr-eh-SIM'-oh-wits) 50-vote win, noting that absentee votes for his original opponent were not counted.
Recount results are pending in Stratford's House seat and the 17th state Senate District.
